Lessons learned about opening a new department: One year on – Dr Sophie Gough

Sophie Gough is Urgent Care Group Director at Portsmouth Hospital University NHS Trust with responsibility for ED, UTC and AMU. She trained in London and the Wessex region. Sophie was appointed as a Consultant in EM in 2008. She was Associate CD for Governance and Clinical Director for EM before taking up her current role in 2018. Sophie oversaw the design, build and delivery of a new ED which was completed in 2024.
