SKI-ED Organising Committee and founders
Somewhere above Morzine, on a chairlift in January 2016, 4 ED doctors were enjoying a ski weekend. Hannah shared her vision to organise a conference, aimed at ED doctors, in the Alps. The others did not take much persuasion. Here’s the SKI ED team…
Dr Suzy Connor
Suzy learned to ski in Glencoe and did her first degree at St Andrews University. She has been organising group ski trips since 1994 and did a season working for Mark Warner before going back to Uni to study medicine, south of the border. After a year working in NZ, she gradually worked her way south from Bristol. She is now an ED consultant at Derriford Hospital (Plymouth) and mum to two girls. When not at work she likes to plan ski trips, cycle and run on Dartmoor.
Previous ski-Ed talks have inspired her to volunteer for Festival Medical Services at Glastonbury, take parental leave and run across Dartmoor.
Dr Annette Rickard
Annette is an Emergency Medicine Consultant at Derriford in Plymouth. Her works interests include getting end of life care right and education. She has recently become the Director of Medical Education at Plymouth.
She loves adventures with friends and family, especially sailing, swimming and travelling.
She is a co- founder of the SKI-ED conference.
Dr Anna Shekhdar
Anna is one of the founders of Ski-ED. She is passionate about the white stuff and feels happiest in the mountains. She loves all things to do with Expedition Medicine and has recently taken up the role of Medical Director for Endeavour Medical.
Anna is mum to two crazy boys, Sammy and Jack who thankfully also love to ski (nature or nurture ). In her spare time she is a Consultant in EM working at RCHT.
Dr Hannah Stewart
Hannah Stewart is an ED and PEM consultant at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital. Professional passions are all things PEM – with a particular interest in paediatric sedation, critical illness and resuscitation. Having previously worked in Australia and on various far flung expeditions, she is now settled in Devon with three children. She remains a huge proponent of working in different healthcare systems and the development of portfolio careers.
After a 4 year skiing hiatus she is desperate to get back on the slopes but less optimistic about fitting into her salopettes!
