What is SKI-ED all about?

The driving force behind setting up this conference was the recognition of the increasing pressure we face as clinicians, but also the realisation that many amongst us carve out fantastic and satisfying careers and have interests outside of medicine, to balance out time spent at work.

In the face of the current difficulties in recruiting and retaining trainees within the NHS, we feel that it is hugely important to create a forum whereby we can share these experiences to support and inspire each other. SKI-ED is this forum.

As this is a non-profit making conference organised by medics for medics, we encourage delegates to give a short presentation on an aspect of their clinical or non clinical life, with the overall aim of inspiring and learning from each other.

You do not have to have climbed Everest nor be a Professor to speak at this  conference (although you may bump into one of the above)! It’s a great opportunity to speak at a friendly, unintimidating international conference.

Previous topics included quality improvement projects, Paediatric hot topics, case studies, dive medicine, expedition medicine, compassion fatigue and alternative career paths. Most people attending the conference give a 20 minute talk related to the SKI-ED themes of sustainability, knowledge, inspiration and education (although this is not compulsary).
