Dr Ian Higginson: Getting old and practising EM. What are the issues and can it be done?

Higgi is an Emergency Physician in Plymouth, having trained first as a GP and then as an Emergency Physician in New Zealand. He is increasingly aware that he is becoming both old and old school, and this has sharpened his focus on the issues facing emergency physicians, if they actually manage to stay practising beyond the age of 50. He has worked to ensure that this issue is included in the diversity agenda, if only because he is apparently now so decrepit that many of his younger colleagues don’t believe he is a ginger, which is a strong part of his identity.
