SUMMARY:Going the extra mile: Interdepartmental teamwork - Dr Lucy Longbottom & Dr Suzy Connor
DESCRIPTION:Lucy works in Cornwall as a Clinical Fellow in EM with Specialist Interest in Expedition Medicine. When not working on mountain and marine expeditions as a medic or mountain leader; Lucy volunteers with British Exploring Society\, to support young people to engage with the outdoors on expeditions\, and works as a lifeboat crew member. \nSuzy is an EM consultant at Derriford Hospital\, Plymouth. Along with her friends\, Hannah\, Annette and Anna\, she helped set up ski-Ed in 2017 when she was a SW trainee. Thanks to ideas from ski-Ed talks over the years\, she now works in Global Health\, volunteers at Glastonbury Festival and is U.K. co-chair for the PTRC ( paediatric trauma resus course ). Outside of work she enjoys running and cycling on Dartmoor\, trying to keep up with her family. She is a big fan of a packed lunch.

She has a long standing interest in weight management and undertook her PhD on novel treatments for obesity at Imperial College\, London. She is currently the National Specialty Advisor for Obesity for NHS England and the Royal College of Physicians.

DESCRIPTION:Dr Ben Marshall is a consultant respiratory physician at University Hospital of Southampton NHS foundation trust. He has a sub specialist interest in respiratory infections\, including COVID-19\, TB and opportunistic infections in the immunocompromised host. He has lead the long Covid community service since the pandemic\, and was chairman of the hospital’s COVID-19 guidance committee leading on the hospitals response to  the management of inpatients with severe Covid pneumonitis.

Sarah was a previous university ski championship team member – now\, she feels lucky if she gets down in one piece! \nBen Atkinson is an Emergency Medicine Consultant in Portsmouth.\nHe is the Clinical Director for Simulation at Portsmouth Hospitals & the Wessex Emergency Medicine Simulation lead. He tells us he is a skier with zero finesse.
